Ed Swiatlo, MD
Dr. Ed Swiatlo obtained an MD and PhD from Chicago Medical School before moving to the University of Alabama at Birmingham to complete a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Infectious Diseases. After completion of training he went next door to the VA Medical Center and University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. At the VA Medical Center Dr. Swiatlo was chief of Research and Development and also the HIV lead clinician, responsible for overseeing comprehensive care for persons living with HIV. In 2016 Dr. Swiatlo moved to the newly reopened VA Center in New Orleans and assumed the role of HIV lead clinician as this medical center opened its doors. After leaving the VA Dr. Swiatlo came to Crescent Care to focus on primary care for persons with HIV. In addition to his role at Crescent Care he also supervises residents and fellows at the Infectious Diseases outpatient clinic at the University Medical Center. Dr. Swiatlo’s primary clinical interest is antiretroviral therapy for HIV.
