Dr. Chris Gunther, MD, MPH, is a board-certified family physician at CrescentCare. Born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, he first came to New Orleans in 2010 after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania. His commitment to community health began as a science and literacy teacher in New Orleans public schools, followed by earning his Master of Public Health in epidemiology from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and working for the New Orleans Health Department. Seeking a more direct impact on community health, Dr. Gunther attended LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, graduating in 2021. He completed his family medicine residency at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, CA, and is thrilled to return to New Orleans as part of the CrescentCare team. As a board-certified family physician, Dr. Gunther provides comprehensive care for patients of all ages and stages of life. His clinical interests include obstetrics and reproductive health, addiction medicine, street medicine, primary care infectious disease such as HIV and hepatitis C, and point of care ultrasound. Outside of the office, he enjoys cycling, exploring City Park, and experiencing New Orleans’ live music scene
