CrescentCare Wins LGBTQ Nonprofit of the Year
New Orleans, LA – On August 19, 2023, CrescentCare, a leading healthcare provider in the Gulf South, was recognized at the 2023 Gay Appreciation Awards (GAA) as this year’s LGBTQ Non-profit of the Year in honor of the organization’s commitment to providing high-quality healthcare, mental health support, and other necessary supports to the Greater New Orleans area’s LGBTQ community. The winner of the category was chosen by community members through a voting process.
The Gay Appreciation Awards gala is presented by Ambush Magazine, and thanks those in the LGBTQ community who are often not recognized for the outstanding services and efforts they perform. These individuals and businesses have made the LGBTQ Community into the viable, successful and powerful community it is today across the Gulf South.
“I am honored that the LGBTQ community has recognized the amazing work of CrescentCare’s staff. In the current environment, our commitment to providing health care to members of the LGBTQ community has only deepened. We appreciate Ambush Magazine for organizing and hosting these awards.”
Founded in 1983 as the NO/AIDS Task Force, CrescentCare became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in 2013, and subsequently expanded its mission to provide comprehensive health and wellness services and advocate empowerment for the whole community. The organization plans to open a second home at 2515 Canal Street in 2024, which will expand its footprint in New Orleans, which will provide more space for patients and services.
