Our New Flagship MidCity Community Health Center
CrescentCare delivers comprehensive health care services including primary care, dental care, and behavioral health services for every stage of life. For over 40 years we have been committed to meeting the needs of the New Orleans area and surrounding communities and providing high-quality compassionate care through licensed and certified providers and caring support staff. As a nationally recognized Federally Quality Health Center, we have a deep sense of pride and commitment to those who place trust in our services. Our focus is to deliver exceptional care that exceeds standards of quality and patient satisfaction.
The NO/AIDS Task Force has been unwavering in providing crucial services and support for individuals impacted by HIV/AIDS since 1983. Operating under the name CrescentCare today, the organization offers a wide range of services to individuals living with HIV as well as their serodiscordant partners, members of the LGBTQ community and anyone who needs medical care in our community. CrescentCare prescribes 34% of the PrEP prescriptions in Louisiana, making a real difference in the fight against new HIV infections.
Over the years, our community’s need has grown, and the demand has quickly outpaced our building’s capacity. We didn’t have enough exam rooms to treat everyone who needed care. The surge in demand is nearly tenfold. This has meant some of our community members must wait for access to care.
The need is urgent and the time is now for CrescentCare to launch a capital campaign to meet the growing needs of our neighbors. I hope you will review our exciting plans ahead and join me in building a healthier community together.
More about our campaign:
THE GROWING NEED
CrescentCare is one of our region’s safety net providers—an ideal option for quality care at an affordable cost. Through this new clinic, CrescentCare is rising to meet patient demands so they will not face barriers of access to care. We have an opportunity to help even more in our community. The Campaign for CrescentCare is for your family, neighbors, LGBTQ community, folks experiencing housing instability, veterans, elderly, low-income individuals, and anyone who needs care in your community. With our community’s investment, we will transform a new community health center that truly reflects the care and compassion we see every day in the New Orleans area.
OUR VISION FOR A HEALTHIER COMMUNITY
Our vision is to be a community where everyone is healthy. The Campaign for CrescentCare will transform a new community health center in New Orleans’ MidCity. The new location will present these opportunities:
Nearly doubled impact. Our new MidCity community health center will increase our capacity by 40% from our previous clinic.
More care to patients. The new 33,000 sq. ft. comprehensive community health center in MidCity will offer primary care, pediatrics, behavioral health, sexual health, labs, and pharmacy for children and adults.
Even better service. In the new community health center, CrescentCare will offer more privacy for patients, lower wait times, improved access, and higher levels of care at an affordable cost - in a beautiful environment surrounded by curated art donated from local artists.
Conserve community resources. By expanding capacity, the new community health center will provide a better, more cost-effective
"She saved my life"
Paul Doolan taught U.S. history for 30 years and has been a New Orleans Tour Guide. On December 31, 2012, Paul was rushed to the hospital with extreme medical issues and soon found out he was HIV+. Several months later, CrescentCare Physician Dr. Nicholas Van Sickles was able to prescribe Paul the drug Atripla, and 3 months later he was undetectable. Paul then began working with CrescentCare Nurse Practioner Pat Gootee, his “angel” , for several years. Pat then introduced Paul to CrescentCare’s Sharon Norman, who he said “saved his life.” Paul later went on to have a transplant and became too ill to continue being a tour guide in the years to come, and was then introduced to CrescentCare Legal Services Attorney Jesse Lind who successfully set him up to begin receiving social security. Paul also worked with CrescentCare Attorney Josh Holmes who helped him create a medical power of attorney and living will. From diagnosis to treatment to case management services, CrescentCare has been able to provide Paul whole person healthcare and additional services.
